Gyudon Rice Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Calrose rice
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 cup sweet sliced onion
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 pound thinly sliced wagyu beef
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 egg yolk (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

Add the rice and water to rice cooker. Rinse and strain excess starchy water. Add chicken broth to rice and cook according to your rice cooker settings. Fluff rice with a spoon when rice is fully cooked.

Add the avocado oil, onions, garlic, and wagyu beef to a hot pan. Cook on medium heat for 7 minutes or until onions are caramelized and beef is fully cooked. Turn heat off and add oyster sauce, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Mix well and set aside.

Fill the bowl halfway with hot rice. Add caramelized beef and onions and top with a generous amount of cilantro and green onions. Lastly, top rice bowl with a raw egg yolk and sesame seed for garnish (optional).
